A Nightingales Song
$500.00
The music in "A Nightingales Song" is primarily rhythmic, but is inspired by several styles. Backing tracks give associations to both pop music and jazz and small acoustic movements are clearly inspired by classical music. The music consists of 12 songs that are bound together by the story.
The project is named "A Nightingales song" with the following orchestration:
One female vocalist, a story teller and a brass quintet (2 trumpets, 1 french horn, 1 trombone and a tuba, can also be performed on Bass Trombone) and some electronic backing tracks.
The music is a bouquet of 12 vocal songs that are through-composed and orchestrated in different styles by Jens Wendelboe. Lyrics and storyline are by Kari Iveland.
The story is of course about the British Nightingale, that among other things, is the only bird that sings 24/7, but unfortunately also is on the brink of extinction. But the story is also about a female that believed strongly about women’s lib. She lived many, many years ago and the myth says that here name was Philomena but they nicknamed here “The Nightingale.”
The concert aims to bring the audience on a wandering tour with poetic songs through many imaginary rooms, where each room depicts a different emotion. This will, in the 75 minutes that the concert lasts, create a compositional and emotional unity.
We envision this as a "One Woman Show" and a male story teller accompanied by five musician who will perform eight instrumental pieces in between the vocals.
There are very few works like this so it will definitely be unique in its form.
It is also possible to add school choir arrangements on a couple of the songs for school concerts, if desired.
